Participation of the delegation of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in the meeting on population census and housing.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the First Deputy Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Aso Nurullo Asvat, is taking part in the UN expert group meeting and seminar on population census and housing construction from September 30 to October 4, 2024 in Geneva, Swiss Confederation. The extraordinary meetings are organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the CIS Statistical Committee. The expert group meeting serves as a platform for statistical agencies to exchange experiences between countries, expand knowledge on planning and conducting population and housing censuses, and promote the development and implementation of the recommendations of the European Conference of Statisticians on population censuses and housing construction is one of the main issues of this event.

At this event, representatives of the states made a presentation on the conduct, summarization, analysis and publication of population and housing census data at the 2020 stage, as well as on the preparation and plans for the 2030 census. The First Deputy Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Aso Nurullo Asvat, made a report on the experience of the Republic of Tajikistan, which was highly appreciated at this event. It is worth noting that over 30 years of independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has conducted a population and housing census three times (every 10 years). The use of modern equipment and technologies in the process of conducting a population and housing census is one of the achievements and innovations of the next stage of the 2020 population and housing census. During the 2020 population and housing census in the Republic of Tajikistan, three methods were used: manual (i.e. traditional), a tablet survey and an Internet survey were used for the first time, and significant results were achieved. Participation in these meetings provides an opportunity for the statistical bodies of the republic to learn about all types of experience in the field of census planning, about new methods of data collection, generalization and dissemination of census results, since they can contribute to the organizational process of future censuses in the republic.
