1.2 MILLION FOREIGNERS VISITED TAJIKISTAN IN 9 MONTHS

Tourism in Tajikistan is one of the most important sectors of the country’s economic development, and in recent years this sector has been developing rapidly in the Republic of Tajikistan. This is due to the fact that every year the number of visits to Tajikistan by foreign tourists increases. Over 1 million 223.2 thousand foreigners visited Tajikistan in the 9 months of 2024. This figure is 195.6 thousand people, or 19% more than in the same period last year. According to statistics, more than 941.3 thousand of them are assessed as tourists according to the methodology of the World Tourism Organization. This is 17.3% more than in the same period last year.

The number of foreign citizens who arrived in the republic from the CIS countries is 1 million 118.5 thousand people, or 91.4 percent of their total, of which 852.2 thousand are tourists. The number of foreign citizens who arrived in the republic from non-CIS countries amounted to 104.7 thousand people (8.6% of the total number), of which 89.1 thousand were tourists. Most of the foreign citizens who arrived in Tajikistan during the specified period were from Uzbekistan. Their number amounted to more than 746.1 thousand people, which is 61.0% of their total number.

The number of tourists who visited the country from Russia over nine months amounted to more than 329.0 thousand people, or 26.9% of their total number. In third place is Kazakhstan – 28.9 thousand, followed by Kyrgyzstan – 4.4 thousand, Turkmenistan – 4.1 thousand, and from non-CIS countries – China – 21.6 thousand, Afghanistan – 10.4 thousand, the USA – 9.2 thousand, Iran – 6.8 thousand, Turkey – 6.1 thousand, Germany – 5.2 thousand, India – 3.7 thousand, Bangladesh – 3.3 thousand, Great Britain and the Republic of Korea – 2.2 thousand people, France, Japan, Italy, Pakistan and Poland – 2.1 thousand, Australia – 1.9 thousand and Canada – 1.8 thousand.
