ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROSPECTS OF ACTIVITIES OF STATE STATISTICAL BODIES

Statistical accounting is an effective means of systematization and development of forecasts of activities of economic entities. In the conditions of market economic relations, it is impossible to ensure uninterrupted progress without calculations, analysis of work results and planning of opportunities. Emomali Rahmon World Statistics Day is celebrated all over the world on October 20. For the first time in 2010, at the 41st session of the UN Statistical Commission, a decision was proposed that should be adopted on World Statistics Day. Also, in some countries, this day is celebrated as a professional holiday of statisticians. This holiday is also celebrated by the people in other countries of the world. The Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is the authorized body of the Republic of Tajikistan for the implementation of state policy in the field of statistics. It is the attention and support of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon and, in turn, the government of the country, which, along with other developed countries, also sought to bring national statistical indicators in line with international standards and present them at the national and international levels.

The Agency on Statistics for 33 years of independence, despite serious economic and financial difficulties and obstacles, has achieved significant success in improving the quality, collection and presentation of statistical data on socio-economic spheres with regional and international economies, expanding joint relations with industry organizations at various levels, continuing the exchange of experience of specialists and the application of modern international statistical experience. It should be noted that the formation of official statistics in the republic from January 1, 2011 for the first time was established according to a new standard in accordance with the international classification of types of economic activity (ICVED). During the period of the country’s independence, the Statistics Agency successfully conducted the 2000 and 2010 population censuses, the 2013 agricultural census and the 2020 population and housing census. The Statistics Agency collects and disseminates data on the basis of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On State Statistics” dated January 12, 2010, which establishes the independence of the Statistics Agency and guarantees the confidentiality of information provided to individual statistical units. In accordance with the law, all enterprises, organizations, institutions and, in general, all production and non-production entities, regardless of ownership, must promptly, fully and accurately submit the necessary reports to the statistics authorities, since statistical accounting is an effective means of systematizing and developing forecasts for the activities of economic entities. In fact, statistics arose with the emergence of the first states and developed in accordance with the requirements of the time. For even from ancient times, kings and rulers understood that in order to carry out state activities, it is extremely necessary to have accurate information on the population, crop area, livestock and the number of weapons and ammunition. However, nowadays the statistics or accounting sector is a special government agency in all countries, and specialists are constantly striving for sustainable development of this industry. After gaining state independence in our country, along with all branches of government, the activities for collecting accurate and reliable statistics are expanding in an unprecedented way, special attention is paid to this government agency, that is, the statistical bodies of the republic, by the state and the government. Because on the path of development and expansion, society has encountered a new demand for government statistics, especially in terms of the composition and quality of official statistics.

Over the past few years, the statistical bodies of the republic, with the full support of the esteemed President of the country and the Government of the country, especially in the direction of improving the quality of dissemination of official statistics, have completed the electronic reporting, the transfer of accounting books of farms of rural settlements and cities to an electronic system, reducing the reporting burden on reporting providers by introducing an electronic form of filing statistical reports, equipping with modern devices and equipment for collecting and protecting data, repair and updating, ensuring favorable working conditions for employees of the central office of the Agency and local statistical bodies have achieved significant success. It should be noted that in order to achieve both significant achievements and tangible progress in the industry, the Agency has established effective cooperation with international organizations and development partners.
